![]() There is incredible beauty and power in niche interests and alternative lifestyles. They often go ignored in favor of appealing to the proftiable common denominator, but I want to make an impact in the life of people typically forgotten about. I’ve spent years bounding between diferent prospective career fields from computer science to fine art and beyond. None of them stuck because I always either felt like there was too little room for creativity, or too much personal taste between “good” and “bad”. Ever since I discovered product design, these two stuggles have merged into a clear purpose. I want to make products for the people who have had to make do with "close enough".

In 2017 I taught myself to code in order to create mods for my favorite rouge-like. This eventually lead to two things: my interest in esoteric programing languages which later lead to my interest in constructed languages, and being assigned as the lead programmer for a newly formed F.I.R.S.T. robotics team. Around this time, in 2018, I enrolled in a dual credit graphic design program at Jefferson College. All three of these things redirected the direction of my life. I did not consider myself an artist at the time, and I inconsitently apply that label to myself even today, but I did learn a lot about the technical side and craft of digital art and began to do freelance work. In 2020 I graduated from that program and a year later enrolled at the same school in an "Associates in Fine Arts (in Art)" focusing on graphic design. I learned so much in this period of my life, such as "I don't want to spend my life doing graphic design". By 2024, with this new knowledge in hand, I graduated from that degree and enrolled at the Kansas City Art Institute for a Bachleors of Fine Arts (in Product design). This piece shows the silhouette of a person that only exists due to digital distortions. I used custom software written in python to make hundreds of thousands of corrupted versions of the original photo and sorted through them by hand to find the one that looked most like a figure. ![]() Neuphone - 2024sitelen [ilo:toki.sin.] - mute ale mute tu tu.i la .ninfon. cu se detri li ny. renorevoArt Saint Louis - Varisity 2023? Jefferson College - Jurried Student Art show 2023? A fictional advertisement for the Neuphone in the language toki pona (an obscure language originally created by Sonja Lang). This piece is commentary on how corporate media targets LGBTQ+ minorities and how unless someone is already in the know they may not be able to understand how or why. I chose to use a rare pride flag that even most queer people wouldn't recgonize (I certainly wouldn't have known about it if not for my friends' who use it). The piece uses a dithered web-safe color standard, as it’s outdated and arguably historically misguided, yet I choose to conform to it anyway, like gender norms. ![]() All Natural - 2023sitelen [sama: soweli:] - mute ale mute tu wan.i la .ninfon. cu se detri li ny. renoreciJefferson College - Jurried Student Art show 2023?
